Top 10 Best Construction Companies in the Philippines

In an aim to build more infrastructure to alleviate traffic and trade across all regions, the construction sector has been one of the core focuses of the government since 2016. This is where “Build Build Build” comes into play, a program that introduces the administrator’s goal of propelling the country into becoming more developed and connected.

A hundred infrastructure flagship projects are already underway as of February 17, 2020, with 38 of these handled by the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) and 42 under the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Of the many projects in the government’s infrastructure development plan, one of the big tickets is the Metro Manila Subway Project, managed by the DOTr and costing roughly 357 billion Philippine pesos. The project is targeted to be completed on 2025, with the construction commencing in six to eight months from February 2020. Other high-valued ventures in the pipeline that would start its construction in six to eight months are the PNR South long haul, North-South Commuter railway extensions (PNR North 2, PNR South commuter, New Manila International Airport, Taguig integrated terminal exchange, Bataan-Cavite interlink bridge, and Panay-Guimaras Negros bridge.

The “Build Build Build” program has also significantly increased the number of building contractor licenses in the country. Just before the global pandemic impact the construction sector in the Philippines, about 1,000 permits were issues for specialty contractors, nearly 2,000 for trade contractors, 3,000 for general building, and almost 5,000 permits for general engineering contractors. Since 2016, the number of building permits has also ramped up. There were about 24,400 permit issuances for non-residential buildings just before the pandemic hit the Philippine Construction industry.

On the other hand, the private sector’s motivation to construct more buildings is inspired not only by the “Build Build Build” program but also by the income-generating potential in the real estate business. In fact, by the end of 2018, the supply of condo units were higher in highly urbanized cities like Makati, Ortigas Center, and Fort Bonifacio compared to Araneta Center, Alabang, and Rockwell Center.
