The Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC), together with joint venture partner Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), will open today (July 23) the P1.6-billion C5 Link Flyover, the first 2.2-kilometer section of the P11-billion 7.7-kilometer-long Cavitex-C5 Link Expressway, providing motorists new routes to avoid traffic-choked corridors in Parañaque, Las Piñas, Pasay and Taguig.

“Vehicular traffic spends about 1.5 hours just to cross from Villamor area in Pasay City to Taguig via Fort Bonifacio. This section will have three lanes on each direction and will enable about 8,000 vehicles to easily cross in half that time,” according to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar, who conducted this Sunday’s final construction inspection of the project.

The C5 Link Flyover will be an alternate route for commuters travelling between Fort Bonifacio, C.P. Garcia (C5), Taguig City, Parañaque City, Las Piñas City and Pasay City. It will directly cross over, from C5, the Metro Manila Skyway (at-grade) and the South Luzon Expressway, to Merville and Sucat, Parañaque.

Now, the flyover can divert vehicular traffic from the often-gridlocked Sales Interchange near Villamor Airbase and ease congestion on both SLEX East and West Service Roads as well as EDSA.

“We are committed to pursuing the completion of the remaining sections of the Cavitex-C5 Link expressway under the “Build, Build, Build” Program of the President,” he underscored.

“Ultimately, we foresee that the Cavitex-C5 Link Expressway will benefit about 50,000 vehicles daily and will afford commuters the expressway experience south of Metro Manila from our Parañaque Toll Plaza to C5 in Taguig City,” according to CIC President Roberto V. Bontia. “We intend to start construction of the next 2.1 km section from Merville to Sucat, Las Piñas City by 4th Quarter of this year.”

The Cavitex C5 Link Flyover is the second Public Private Project (PPP) toll road which CIC’s parent company, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), delivered this year after completing the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 last February, 2019.

Aside from the Cavitex and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) network in the South of Manila, MPTC’s portfolio includes the concessions for the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
