Include construction workers in vaccine priorities: solon
By Margret Fermin
CWS party-list Representative Romeo Momo Sr. appealed to the national government to include construction workers in the COVID-19 vaccine priority list.
Momo said construction workers play a significant role in reviving the country’s economy amid the pandemic. He added these workers should be also be protected against COVID-19.
“Our highly-dedicated and hard working fellow Filipino construction men and women must also be considered as among our frontliners, although admittedly they are not directly combating the spread of the dreaded virus, nor taking care of those who are infected by the disease,” Momo said in a statement.
Construction workers, Momo said, “are in the main front of our efforts in battling the economic devastation brought about by the pandemic, as they served as the backbone of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s ‘BUILD, BUILD, BUILD’ program and other infrastructure-related activities.”
The government said the COVID-19 priority list is as follows:
- A1: Frontline workers in health facilities both national and local, private and public, health professionals and non-professionals like students, nursing aides, janitors, barangay health workers, etc.
- A2: Senior citizens aged 60 years old and above
- A3: Persons with comorbidities not otherwise included in the preceding categories
- A4: Frontline personnel in essential sectors including uniformed personnel and those in working sectors identified by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases as essential during an enhanced community quarantine
