MANILA — Various government agencies led by the interior department unveiled plans for the construction of a 50-hectare Workers Rehabilitation Center on Labor Day, Wednesday.
The facility, which will be constructed in Tanay, Rizal aims to help employees with work-related disabilities or injuries to recover so they can eventually return to work.
“This 50-hectare property of the Employees’ Compensation Commission in Tanay will serve as a sanctuary and a place of rehabilitation for our workers and soldiers who suffer from work-related injuries,” President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said.
“The building of this facility is a just and fitting honor to those who have sacrificed much for the progress of the nation,” he said.
According to Malacanang, funding for the construction of the facility will be sourced from the Employees’ Compensation Commission and its investment arms, the Social Security System (SSS) and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).
Marcos made the remark during the awarding of 10 outstanding Filipino workers from various regions to mark Labor Day.
“The Outstanding Workers of the Republic” or TOWER Awards “honors the nation’s most outstanding non-supervisory blue-collar and white-collar workers (individual and teams) for their exceptional innovations and significant future-focused contributions to their company’s overall efficiency, productivity, and performance”, according to the labor department.
“Today, we also recognize exemplary workers who have exhibited outstanding performance and have given significant contributions in their fields,” the President said.
