Fasttrack Clark rail to ’21, contractors told

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) asked the  contractors of  the PNR Clark phase 1  to fasttrack the completion of the project

In a meeting in Tokyo this week, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade asked   officials of Taisei Corpand of D.M. Consunji Inc. (DMCI)  to accelerate the target date of completion of PNR Clark Phase 1 from 2022 to the last quarter of 2021.

Once operational, the rail system will cut travel time from Manila to Bulacan from y one hour and 30 minutes to just 35 minutes and will  accommodate 300,000 passengers daily.

Also in Tokyo, DOTr discussed  the  rehabilitation and maintenance f the Metro Rail Transit with  officials of Sumitomo Corp..

The company has already ordered major parts and components for the MRT-3, and negotiated with its suppliers for faster delivery.

Light Rail Vehicle parts will arrive in July, while tracks and signaling components are set to be delivered in August.

Tugade also convened with representatives of Toyota Motor Corp. for its possible participation in the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.

Toyota was also invited to join the roll-out of premium taxi fleets in the country, the amended guidelines of which were released this month.
