EDSA Busway rehabilitation bidding starts this week: DOTr chief

MANILA — Bidding for the rehabilitation of the EDSA Busway begins this week, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon told ABS-CBN in an interview on Monday, April 21.
“‘Yung EDSA Busway rehab– mga second half of the year magsisimula na ‘yan. Magpapa-bid na kami for the rehabilitation of the first eight stations starting end of April– ito nang linggong ‘to, magsa-start na ‘yung proseso,” Dizon said.
Meanwhile, construction for the first eight out of 16 busway stations is likely to begin by June, Dizon added.
“Hopefully mag-start ng construction mga bandang June for the first eight. And then ‘yung next eight ulit third quarter of this year.”
To ensure the safety of motorists and commuters, the DOTr has already begun cleaning and painting the concrete barriers at the EDSA Bus Carousel in partnership with a paint brand.
According to Dizon, reflectorized paint, which is known for increased visibility especially during nighttime, was used.
“Pininturahan na ‘yan para mas kita lalo na sa gabi– reflectorized paints ‘yung mga ginamit. And para maging less dangerous siya Lalo na sa gabi,” Dizon said.
