Work has started on the $526m (A$813m) Northern Hospital redevelopment in Australia.

Stage one of the project will deliver a new four-storey ambulatory care centre, set to open in mid-2026. It will also provide a dedicated space for clinical care and hospital administration.

Meanwhile, stage two will follow with the construction of a new emergency department and inpatient unit tower, including a dedicated paediatric zone, new inpatient units, an emergency observation unit, and additional parking.

The redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2029.
