Aboitiz Foundation advances solar, digital learning program in over 100 schools

Aboitiz Foundation has work underway in more than 100 schools under its AuroraPH program, which aims to bring solar power, internet connectivity, and digital learning tools to 300 last-mile schools.
The implementation update was included in Aboitiz Group’s October 28 sustainability release. The program combines electricity access with connectivity and educational resources.
Discussing the group’s broader sustainability approach, Aboitiz Equity Ventures Chief Reputation and Sustainability Officer Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar emphasized accountability for business and community impacts.
“For us, sustainability is about taking responsibility and being accountable for how we do business and the impact we have on people, communities, and the environment,” Hontiveros-Malvar said.
Separately, the foundation is pursuing forest restoration and watershed protection through CarbonPH, in partnership with government agencies, communities, and private organizations.
The 40-year initiative aims to restore approximately 71,000 hectares of forest landscapes and grow 10 million trees while supporting local livelihoods. The release did not provide completed restoration or tree-growing figures.
