LAGONGLONG, Misamis Oriental — Aboitiz Construction has completed the new Lagonglong Port for AMADI MGT Terminals Inc., a major infrastructure project expected to enhance trade capacity and generate jobs in Northern Mindanao.
The private commercial port, located in Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental, features a 250-meter-long and 23-meter-wide berth with a seabed elevation of -21 meters from mean lower low water (MLLW).
With a handling capacity of up to 3.3 million metric tons of bulk cargo annually, the facility is designed to improve the logistics of agricultural and raw material transport, while accommodating larger vessels for more efficient cargo operations.
The project includes dock facilities, temperature-controlled storage for perishable goods, and modern loading and unloading systems. Up to 300 workers were employed at peak construction, highlighting Aboitiz Construction’s commitment to job creation in the region.
“We are not just building a port; we are fostering economic growth and job creation. Our commitment to operational excellence drives us to continue our partnership with AMADI in advancing both business and communities,” said Aboitiz Construction Chief Operating Officer Ramez Sihom.

The project broke ground in January 2024, with key national and local officials in attendance, including Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia, Congressman Christian Unabia, and Lagonglong Mayor Jay Albert Puertas.
In a related marine infrastructure development, Aboitiz Construction partnered with DICT Bulk Terminal Inc. in October 2024 to build a fifth berth at the Davao International Container Terminal in Panabo City, Davao del Norte. The facility, designed to handle cement and cementitious materials, is set for completion within 2025.
The company has been a longtime partner of DICT, having constructed its four existing berths — the most recent completed in 2021 — which boosted operational efficiency and improved capacity for agro-industrial cargo.
Aboitiz Construction has also delivered large-scale marine infrastructure in Balamban, Cebu for Tsuneishi Heavy Industries, including a 100-hectare shipbuilding yard and extensive reclamation and support facilities.
These projects underscore the company’s growing role in national development through strategic port and marine construction, further reinforcing its capacity to drive industrial growth and regional connectivity.
