Design and construction of the Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project in the Philippines will be handled by China Road and Bridge. The contract to develop the Samal Island-Davao City Connector is worth US$402.3 million.

The project will see the construction of a bridge measuring nearly 4km in length, which will feature two lanes in either direction and carry an estimated 25,000 vehicles/day. The contract for the work was awarded by the Philippines’ Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Construction of the cable-stayed structure is expected to take five years to complete. The bridge will feature a 1.62km central span and construction is expected to start in the first half of 2021.

Improving the link between Davao City and the Island Garden City of Samal will help improve transport for the commuters using the link daily. It will also help boost tourism for the island.
