MANILA — Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 led an inspection team to check progress of the ongoing Alaminos-San Pablo City Bypass Road Project.

“We are seeing significant civil works accomplishment of this multiyear project that will serve as a faster alternative route for motorists going Quezon Province and Bicol Region between Alaminos and San Pablo City in Laguna Province,” said Secretary Villar.

According to Secretary Villar, the 12.83-kilometer bypass road with five (5) bridge components has so far received an allocation of P1.36 Billion and will only require 473 million for funding in 2021 and 2022 to be completed.

When completed, the Alaminos-San Pablo City Bypass Road will cut travel time by as much as 20-40 minutes, facilitating better transport and tourism development in the area.

Completed works include the 4-kilometer road opening and 1.63-kilometer road concreting under CY 2016; 1.22-kilometer road opening, construction of Bridge 1, 2, and 3 and 1.92-kilometer road concreting under CY 2017.

Ongoing segments that are funded under CY 2018, 2019, and 2020 include the construction of Bridge 4 and 5 which are now 35 percent and 15 percent completed respectively. Also ongoing are the 5.31-kilometer road concreting with thermoplastic pavement markings, construction of another 2.45-kilometer road with line canal, and widening of Bridge 1 and 2.

Proposed in 2021 and 2022 budget will cover the widening of Bridge 3, 4, and 5, and paving of shoulder of the entire bypass road project. (DPWH)
